Watching "The World at War" and "Band of Brothers" it struck me how cruel war is to the youth of any era. My father was a field doctor in WW2, and Olga von Frankenstein, our friend and mentor was a victim of the Anschluss .. they survived. But how many young men and women are buried in unmarked graves in far flung lands, from France to Namibia. The chorus of this song is based on "Ich habt einen kameraden" a German marching song from WW1.
