Why does the blood run cold in my veins,
When people start to talk of names,
When I was a child this cit of doom,
Was not a place of constant gloom,
But bright and happy - where children's cries,
Echoed like anthems to the skies,
And hung like the scent of a perfumed flower
To sweeten the air of that day, that hour. 

Such was the world when I was named,
But soon that world so greatly changed,
In passing time our sense grew dulled,
Illusion thick like habit lulled
Our hearts, our minds our souls to sleep,
And there we remained in slumber deep,
Till kindled deep inside I heard
Some song of love and holy word,
Some force that then became
The distant stirring of my name and it said
